Located near Udaipur, the Deroli (Daroli) quarries produce a stone that bears a striking resemblance to the legendary Makrana Albeta called Deroli White Marble. With its high-whiteness base and elegant grey veining, it is almost indistinguishable from premium Makrana to the untrained eye.
Available in Makrana | Kishangarh | Jaipur
However, Deroli Marble is a completely different geological entity. At Evershine Marble in Makrana, we have observed its performance over decades. It is the ideal choice for massive commercial projects and price-conscious residential users who want a “Taj Mahal Look” on a budget.
Technical Analysis: Hardness vs. Composition
While it looks like Makrana, the mineral DNA of Deroli Marble is unique:
- Extreme Cutting Hardness: Deroli is exceptionally tough. It features a high chloride content that reinforces the stone but makes it very difficult to process. In our units, cutting a single 10-15 ton block can take up to two full days—nearly double the time of standard marbles.
- The “Luster” Secret: The same chloride content that makes it hard to cut is also its greatest asset for finishing. It reacts beautifully with polishing abrasives to “catch” a deep, brilliant mirror-shine that rivals more expensive stones.
- Mineral Trade-off: Compared to Makrana, Deroli has a lower calcium content and a higher iron content. This chemical profile dictates how and where the stone should be used.
Important Usage Guidelines: The “Iron” Factor
Because we believe in honest expertise at Evershine, we advise our clients on the specific limitations of Deroli Marble:
- Avoid Sunlight: Due to its high iron content, this material is not recommended for outdoor use. When exposed to direct UV rays and moisture, the iron minerals can oxidize, causing the stone to turn yellow over time.
- Interior Preference: It is best used for indoor vertical cladding, commercial hallways, or areas where water does not settle on the surface. Standing water combined with its iron content is the primary cause of yellowing.
- The Budget Hero: It is the perfect substitute for Makrana Albeta when the project involves massive square footage—such as malls, office complexes, or budget hotels—where the cost of Makrana would be prohibitive.
